INFOSYS 2007 paper
I attended the Infosys test on 23 September 2007 at Chennai. For entry level software professionals (experienced hires). The test was relatively simpler (50 marks, 10 question and 60 minutes) and there was no verbal test.
The test was followed by technical interview and HR next day.
I have written the questions that I remember. Only 12 people got selected and I was not one among them..
The questions
1) Seller arranges apples when he arranges 3 in row 1 apple extra similarly for 5, 7 and 9. When 11 apples in a row no extra apples were left. Find no of apples present.
2) A group cow graces at farm land growing at equal speed
40 cows take 40 days
30 cows take 60 days
How much the 20 cow takes to empty the field....
3) how many bees, when one-fifth goes to flower 1, one-third goes to flower 2 and 5 times The difference of f1 and f2 goes to flower3 and 1 travel between f1 and f2
4) Two ice-skaters start from opposite direction and must reach the others starting point. Sketer s1 with the help of wind finished the race in 2 1/2 with a difference of 6 min. find the racing time for s1 and s2.
5) Person 1 ask person 2 what was the weather for Past 5 days, person 2 says he does not remember but the temperature was product of 12, assuming the degree where whole number find the temperature.
6) 5 students a,b,c,d,e speak 5 languages English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French
1) b,c speak English and change to Spanish when d arrives
2) Set of conditions....
Portuguese is spoken by 3 people and Spanish by most of them
1 student speak all 5 language, 1 student speak 4 language, 1 student speak 3 language, 1 student speak 2 language, 1 student speak ONLY ONE language, and answer the set of questions (8 marks)
7) In a race 3 tribe people participate T1 people speak truth, T2 people speak false, T3 speak truth and false alternatively. And set of statement speak and we must find who said which sentence, tribe names where soran, noren and ...
8) A murder happens 6 people (names given) where present victim, murder, judge, policeman, witness and hang man

9) A tuck can hold 12 gallons of fuel and can run for 25 m per gallon. After start the fuel leaks through the hole in the tank. The truck comes to halt after traveling at 50 m per hour for 4 hrs. Find the fuel lost thought the hole.
10) a pirate comes home after 6 years, when h left the home his son was 5 times his age and now he is three times his age and when the son is twice the age, he will twice more than him. what was the age of pirate when his son was born
2007 paper-2
Recently INFOSYS Technologies visited our campus. We all r well aware of this IT giant, its one of the best company of India n i think most of us consider IT as a dream company. I GOT SELECTED IN INFOSYS n its like a dream come true. Earlier i was a harcotian n now im a Infosian.
NOW SOMETHING IMPORTANT
WRITTEN:
APPTITUDE = 30 questions (40 min)
IT WAS EASY TO CRACK, NEED TIME MANAGEMENT, STUDY R.S AGARWAL(Verbal, non - verbal)
1. INPUT: START
STATEMENT 2 :a=38, b=43, c=45
STATEMENT3 :a=b , b=c
like wise some more statements
OUTPUT: STOP
NOW questions based on it (TOTAL 5 QUESTIONS SORRY I DONT REMEMBER ALL)
if a= a+b+c then find the output at the end of the program.
2. questions on odd figure out in non- verbal(5 diagrams will be given) very easy
3. data sufficiency(5)
4. data interpretation(a table was given but prepare bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs also)
5. logical reasoning (6 person are having sunshine aries, libra etc. the one who is tall is not a libran) Make table to solve these questions.
6 sentences given n we hv to arrange in logical order.use venn diagram
ENGLISH: 35 questions(30 min)
It was a difficult one, totally C.A.T. pattern.
-2 very big passages (one on how managers manage the things, other on E-Commerce)
-sentence corrections (based on grammer, logics)
-fill in the blanks with correct word (need very strong vocabulary)
-short passages(4-5 lines) u need to find correct inference, assumption, conclusion out of 4 sentences given.
IN OUR COLLEGE 200 STUDENTS APPEARED
CLEARED WRITTEN= 31
FINALLY SELECTED=19

INTERVIEW:
No Technical, prepare puzzles(they ask)no puzzle was asked to me but a lot to my friends.
Frankly speaking.(they check 2 things either u should hv very good communication skills or ur apptitude should be very sharp, some of my friends who r not very good at communication answered the puzzles very effectively n they are in, so dont loose hope, show ur full confidence n definitely u will b selected.)
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS ASKED:
1.What is the difference between ball pen n gel pen
2.U BELONG to uttranchal so how do u percept haldwani, nainital and kanpur.
3.IN normal vision we write 6/6 WHAT does it mean
4.puzzle- WE ALL NEED MORE = MONEY(what is the value of N ans.is 9 )
5.5 weakness with eg.
6.5 strengths with eg.
7. if after 4 months we send u to U.S n ur parents wont allow whwt will u do.
8.why want join software as u are not from C.S or I.T.
9.they ask questions from CURRENT AFFAIRS, POLITICS, G.K also.from where pratibha patil belong, New7 wonders.
InfoSys -2007 paper-3 at hyderabad
This is Harsha Tumuluri, I would like to thank all the students who gave their suggestions.. we had our Infosys campus placement today at Muffakham Jah College of Engg and Technology, it was an oncampus for us....
At first the pre placement talk will be given, please do listen to that carefully and if possible jot down some necessary points...i would rather suggest u to learn about the history of Infosys from the wikipedia.org or u can go to the infosys website....
After the preplacement talk we were asked to fill up the forms, the details of that will be given by the ppl over there...but do fill ur %'s correctly as they may later on verify and they even take the signature from u stating that all the data written on that form is true...
QUANTITATIVE EXAM: 30 questions 40 minutes
1) The quant paper was average, the first question was a shocker and it was a big paragraph in which a question related to the card game "flash" was asked (sorry i dont remember)
2) Questions 5 to 10 were on the figures, 3 figures will be given and u have to spot the next figure.
U can get these questions from classifications chapter in R S Agarwal (non verbal reasoning)
3) Questions 10-15 were on data sufficiency (RS Agarwal section 1 verbal and non verbal)
4) Questions 15-20 were on data interpretation, some pie chart was given and questions were asked on that.(data interpretation RS agarwal quantitative aptitude book)
5) Questions 20-25 were on questions like u need to contruct a table and fill in the date to answer such question.(I would suggest u to do the entire puzzle test chapter in the RS agarwal verbal n non verbal reasoning book perfectly)
6) Questions 25-30 were syllogisms, they were not the regular syllogism's like 2 statements will be given and u need to derive a conclusion, 6 statements were given and u need to find out the corect combination of the sentences which form a sense.
These type of problems can be found in RS agrawal (verbal n non verbal ssection 2-logic) do all of them.
Blood relations, number ranking sequence, series, cubes and dices are very important although they were not asked for us....
ENGLISH EXAM: 40 questions 30 mins
If ur basics are strong then no need to go through any books, yeah but if u want to have practice then try to solve the problems of wren and martin grammer n composition (prepositions, tenses, direct and indirect speech, conditions statements)
2 RC's will be given, dont start with this, time will not be sufficient...
start with other sections like sentence corection(10 Q's), fill with appropriate word (10 Q's), deriving conclusion from the passages(10 Q's).
some people wuld suggest to solve CAT problems for this but i personally feel that the questions given were not even close to the CAT standard....they were very simple.
But yeah u can go thru the correct usage of the tenses and prepostions from the CAT material...
We waited for 2 hrs and after that the results were declared, i was shortlisted..
HR INTERVIEW:
Try to stay very cool and calm, I know that it is very tough but just try to be relaxed. Don't panic b4 the interviewer, just consider them as ur frends or consider him as a person who doesnt know anything and u are explaining to him!! Keep smiling and be confident, they look at ur confidence.. They will have a look at ur resume and then ask questions from them, will give u a sheet of paper in which there will be 5 topics u have to choose one and speak on that topic, one real time problem will be given and how do u face that...and finally puzzles will be asked..
be prepared with topics like IT companies growth, which sectors in India are considered to develop in the next few years.. If u have organized any event then they will ask u about that event n the difficulties faced in that event and how did u overcome it?? few puzzles will be given like
1) how can u make 5 one rupee coins to touch each other.. every coin shud touch the other 4 coins...
2) U are given a 3 containers 20 liters, 5 liters and 3 liters and the 20 litre can is full of milk, u need to get 4 liters of milk somehow by using all the containers..
3) 6 match sticks will be given u need to contruct a structure such that it has 4 equilateral triangles...ans is contruct a pyramid with base as triangle
Guys be careful about ur hobbies, one of my frends said that his hobby was volleyball and immediately the HR person asked doubts like what is the weight of the ball, dimentions of the court and height of net etc.... the interviewer is just trying to annoy u by asking these questions, dont panic and say confidently that u dont know! or else u learn every thing about ur hobbies.. I am a fan of tennis so b4 going to the interview i learned that weight of the tennis ball is 57g and height of the net is 36 inches in the middle and 42 at the ends, the different courts and etc....
Infosys paper 2007-4
ROUND 1: Aptitude test
This had two parts THE LOGICAL REASONING PART n then THE VERBAL PART...
LOGICAL PART:
1-5 a long puzzle that had some calculations.. it was on a game of cards called "FLASH"... all i can say is this was something i never expected to happen.. i was shocked ........
6-10 odd fig out ... easy if u think properly .. READ ENTIRE RS AGARWAL figures and series chapter for this...
11-15 DATA SUFFICIENCY .. very easy.... READ RS AGARWAL quantitative data sufficiency and the one given in non verbal reasoning..
16-20 DATA INTERPRETATION (pie chart)... easy but calculations like "123456/234*1000" were there... what i mean to say is .. BE READY FOR TOUGH
CALCULATIONS.
21-25 ..this was a classification problem ... u will get it in PUZZLE TEST chapter in RS AGARWAL non verbal.
26-30 .ofcourse SYLLOGISMS ..i did only 3 correct out of 5...
VERBAL PART:
1-10 2 RC 's ... one short and one too long... DONT TRY THIS FIRST.. followed by correction of sentences n fill up the blanks and passage inferences.. all were very easy. i dint practise anything for this... it was just basic grammar...
ROUND 2: HR
it was very easy one..... he asked three puzzles... one was pyramid n i did that. the rest was very easy... to clear this u should have GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS and BE COOL N CONFIDENT.... the results were announced at 5:30 PM ....
Out of 450+ i think 180+ cleared the aptitude n when the results came 50+ got selected n i was one among them...there were still HR rounds going on n we had HR the next day also....so i dont know the exact number of students who got selected.
Pattern consisted of 2 sections one was the analytical part n the other was Verbal..!!!
I. Analytical
1.Blood relation problems
2.Venn diagram (Given datas about three quantities n problems regarding those)
3.Data interpretation(Charts graphs)
4.Data Sufficiency(two sentences n answer like a is only true b is only true to answer both are needed to answer some thing like that)
5.Seating Arrangement
6.Cubes
7.Matching figure
II. VERBAL
1.Reading Comprehension(Do this atlast, the longest one is easy read questions first)
2.Reading comprehension(Do this atlast)
3.Fill in the blanks with proper words(like adjective, or some flowery bombastic words,choice will be given)
4.Correct sentence(choose the correct sentence from 4 sentences)
5.Choose a heading for the sentence(choose a heading for the para choice will be given its about how u infer the para)
6.Jumbled sentences
7.Error in the sentence(Error will be in punctuations conjuctions was were had has have errors)
INTERVIEW:
Only HR no tech interview carry urself cool..See to that u have a decent english with a decent accent..!! Don't stammer keep smiling..!! Memorise ur resume..!! U will be asked something like how good a team leader u are..???
Long term goal short term goal...prepare an attractive answer for temme about urself..U will be given a puzzle...I know we won't solve that watsoever in that tension so keep trying don't leave till he says stop..!! Explain him what have u tried.!!! sometime the interview will be of stress type..!!!
U will be asked questions like What will u do if u see a person who looks like u coming towards u..???
The HR may also ask wat will be ur reaction when a 45yr old man/lady proposes u???
So stay coll in the interview do ask him some questions..surely..!!! If u get thru the apps 80% u are selected if u follow the above instructions..!!! Books i followed are the work books of TIME CAT Preparation Books u can also follow R.S.Agarwal
Infosys paper conducted at mumbai-2007
Infy had come to our college on 10th of July and selected as many as 100 ppl, from Comps, IT Electronics etc.. together.. As u know once u clear the apti d interview is a cake-walk.
There were two sections:
1. Quantitative
2. English
If u r keen to get into Infy, do RS Aggarwal (both books) thoroughly, with puzzles from Shakuntala devi also. Quantative consisted of questions such as
1. Direction problems - 5 questions on this like XYZ walks 50 kms north, then turns right n wals west etc... so where is he now...
2. Insert the missing figure in series - 5 questions on this Refer RS for this
3. Data Sufficiency type questions - 5 each
4. Data Interpretation - (We had bar-graph) - 5 each, This 1 was quite tough since v lacked time..
5. Puzzle Type questions.. - 5 each
6. last but not the least SYLLOGISMS!! - 5 each
This is really important.
English paper
1. There was a BIG passage n questions related to that were asked.
2. Same here also, another BIG passage n answer (like conclusions) from this.
3. Fill in the blanks with the most appropriate options...
all basic english stuff...
Then, results declared in 2 hrs time followed by an interview.. This is really good..
1st is mostly TELL ME BOUT U'RSELF
then u'r interests, n all general stuff.. like u'r weakness, strengths.. etc.
Then I was given 2 puzzles to solve, n i could. but those who could not.. dnt worry, just keep on trying.
Three HR questions were asked. - what will u do in so n so situation .. n how will u work in a team.. et all... such questions..
then results out the same day in another 1 hr..
