Iam Lalitha.y. I am here to share my experience in Satyam recruitment process. I am from MIC college of technology pursing MCA final year. I attended through JKC conducted at LBRCE Mylavaram
Satyam pattern :
1.Written test (aptitude,reasoning,simple program)
2.GD (Elimination Process)
3.Technical (20 to 30min)
4.HR (For me it is 2min)
Written consists 20 questions with negative marking. My sensior advice is don't make any guess. Written was conduted on Aug 16 (2007) only for students of Krishna Dt.
GD was conducted on Sep 11 (2007) for Krishna and Guntur dt students. GD process is also easy if u speak confidently. While speaking don't see the selector. It creates bad impression. while other person is speaking look at the speaker.
Use simple & clear English. If possible try Initaite or conclude the topic. Initiation should be taken only if u are clear about topic. If u don't know the topic allow others to initiate then u will get some idea. Among 630 students they selected 230 from GD process.
My GD topic was "Brain Drain". I have some idea about topic but i am not the intiator. I started second. I took chance 5 to 6 times. Nobody will give chance for us we have to take. Don't argue or question anyone in the group. It is about 10min.
GD Topics:
1.Brain drain
2.Impact of wester culture on Indian Culture
3.Is china threat for Indian IT
4.Involvement of politians in sports
5.Current affairs Chet anaS
6.old India Vs new India
7.Terrorism
8.Reservations
9.love marriage Vs arrange marriages
After completion of GD essay writing will be there to test our writing skills. don't bother about that it just to appraise our writing skills.
In Technical they concentrate only on basics (C, C++, DBMS, OS, Unix). For non computer students (C,OS) and their core subjects. First wish the interviewer with a smiling face.
Questions asked me are about tell me about urself, compiler, assembler, what is os, functionality of os, difference b/w structured & oops, oops feartures, what is dbms, normal forms, Unix commands.
If u don't know the answer say sorry sir. Among 230, 111 r completed tech.
In HR they ask tell me about urself, hobbies and they give feedback of our performance through out the process. Finally 105 tsudents r selected and I am one among them.
Paper-3
This is Divya from GITAM, Visakhapatnam. I'm frm MCA & I would like to share my whole experience on the day wen SATYAM came to my clg. It is on 4 July 2007..
SATYAM selection process consists of :
1 APTITUDE TEST
2 GD
3 TECH+HR INTERVIEW
My Aptitude test started at 10 am. time will be 30 mins. 15 questions. Questions r frm areas like time n work, time n distance, percentages, profit loss, simple n compound interest, permutations n combinations number series etc..
Each correct ans carries 1 mark n each wrong ans leads to 1/4 reduction from the obtained marks. So be sure of ur ans... dont make guesses... usually cut off wil be frm 8 to 11. My paper was easy to me but some of my frns told dat it is tough. I marked 11 questions perfectly n i'm very confident that i'l go through written. Meanwhile they gave ppt..It was so nice. After ppt they announced d results of written. obviously my name was there...
Next round was GD.. many of my frns said that this was the main elimination round. 10 members a group. The moderator asked to choose our own topic. We said PRESENT EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA. I'm the initiator of my group. I opposed the topic through out my discussion.. after 10 mins of discussion with my group the moderator asked me to summarize the gd. I did it well.. after that they asked to wait for result... frns dont think that this is the main elimination round......they wil take based on ur performance only.. I waited for a long time for gd result but i'm very confident that i'l select coz i've done very well throughb out my discussion....
After a long time they announced the GD results... my name was there. After GD they wil giv HR form. In my opinion this will play an imp role in selection process...
Next round was TECH+HR
I was called by them for interview around 7pm. I entered d room with a big smile on face and a lot of confidence.
INTERVIEWER : Hi Divya...please take ur seat.......
ME : Hi sir...thanku(i sat)
INTER : How was d day.....I think u are waiting from morning...
ME : fine sir
INTER : Tell me about urself........
ME : I strted saying.. my name, native place, family back ground, academics, hobbies, strengths. (meanwhile he interrupted me)
INTER : Tell me about ur projects
ME : I said
INTER : what is ur fav sub?
ME : C++
INTER : asked about virtual funcs, inheritence, friend funcs...
ME : I explained well with syntaxes
INTER : wat is the diff b/w applet n application....
ME : said
INTER : wat is d life cycle of applet
ME : Explained
INTER : why u joined GITAM n that too MCA
ME : said
INTER : why SATYAM
ME : said well.....
INTER : why shud I hire u?
ME: said
INTER : wer u want to see urself in next 5 years
ME : said
INTER : asked some other simple hr questions
ME : said with lot of confidence
INTER : any queries
ME : Sir, can I do my 6th sem project thru SATYAM?
INTER : no.. he explained the reason well
My interview was about 15-17 mins. I was very confident tru out the interview. I was with a smiley face. I was atisfied with my answers... He offered me shakehand n he said all the best to me.....he said to wait for results. I left d room with confidence. I was very confident till then but i became very tensed after my interview. then my frns gave me moral support wic I never forgot in my life
Paper-5
This is Ananth Kiran.. we know the proverb "failure is the stepping stone of success".... I am frankly telling u this is exactly correct. I hav failed in 1)infosys written test.2) hr in convergys 3) perot in written test.4) virtusa in written test but i got some experience in each company test. Finally I got selected in satyam... Friends success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
Test pattern : Written test 15 multiple choice q WITH -VE MARKING SO CAREFULLY WRITE ONLY KNOWN ANSWERS AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABT GUESSED ANSWERS. DON'T PUT ALL THE ANS EVEN U KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS BECOZ SATYAM DON'T WANT HIGHLY INTELLEGENT PEOPLE.
1) SERIES (R.S. aggarwal is enough for aptitude)
2) COMPOUND INTEREST
3) RATIOS
4) 3 q FRM REASONING (VERY EASY)
5) AGES AND MILK RATIO AND PROPORTION PROBLES
6) PROBABILITY .... i.e, ex: A through a die and after that B through die. if who got 5 on die that person will win. wat is the prob for B wins ..(exactly this q only
7) Some table given and find the ratio of sums of two colomns in table..(dead easy)
b carefull with ratio coz don't b over confident while calculating ..If u get exact ans then only do it
8) some qs given and most of them ans are "no of these" in my test. So if u r confident then only put tat option..
GD: This is elimination round and thy offered us to select our own topic. And we hav chosen "should youth enter into politics" (if get ths chance try to select topic regarding IT) my group is very good group and I initialized the topic. try to initiate the topic if u hav some content and tell the def of topic...my personal advise is go through "gd topics with answers" It ll help us a lot ..really ( LOUD UR VOICE)....
HR: tell me abt ur self (pl b confident loud ur voice and with smile)
Fav. Subject (I said STLD), my project and on my paper presentations .... these helped me a lot in technical .
Extraactivities: meditation & reading spiritual book.. he ll surely ask u q on that.
Be confident and loud ur voice and give smile. they will see how much u r confident. Not ur answers. Really.
If u hav project works and paper presentations b prepare for that. thy ll ask u q on it only.
Thank you friends. I hape it will help u alleast 1% for ur success. It is really good company and offers 2.5L /anum.

My name is Pranjal Paliwal. Currently I am pursuing b.tech in mechanical engineering (6th sem) FROM HINDUSTAN COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & TECH. I went through the Satyam recruitment process recently on 28th April at my clg Hindustan college of science and technology (Mathura) which is my college. As u all of know that Satyam aptitude paper consists of 15 question and duration is 30 min, the cut off is usually 7, remember there is negative marking so do not try to attempt all question. apti section is damn easy. I am sure that a person with basic knowledge can easily get through
Most of the questions were solvable if one has done Quantitative Aptitude by R.S.Agarwal. Make sure, you attempt only those questions which are you damn sure of. Don make too many blind guesses. Usually, the cutoff ranges between 6 to 8, and attempting 7-9 questions with full confidence will get you in.
Here are some of the question s that are asked:

paper-2

INTER : Tell me about ur projects
ME : I said
INTER : what is ur fav sub?
ME : C++

One of the early things people learn about Unix is that a "kill -9" is invincible- that a process must die if you send it a KILL (-9). However, that's not entirely true:
A process can be sleeping in kernel code. Usually that's because of faulty hardware or a badly written driver- or maybe a little of both. A device that isn't set to the interrupt the driver thinks it is can cause this, for example- the driver is waiting for something its never going to get. The process doesn't ignore your signal- it just never gets it.
A zombie process doesn't react to signals because it's not really a process at all- it's just what's left over after it died. What's supposed to happen is that its parent process was to issue a "wait()" to collect the information about its exit. If the parent doesn't (programming error or just bad programming) , you get a zombie. The zombie will go away if its parent dies- it will be "adopted" by init which will do the wait()- so if you see one hanging about, check its parent; if it is init, it will be gone soon, if not the only recourse is to kill the parent..which you may or may not want to do.
Finally, a process that is being traced (by a debugger, for example) won't react to the KILL either.

Wipro 2007 papers
1. First they conducted written test which has 3 sections
English section which is very simple one
jumbled words with nos, active and passive voices, direct and indirst speech, tenses.
2. Next section is aptitude section which was little bit tough.
just enough rs.aggarwal.
3. Next is technical section which has simple programs
finding thier o/p. Unix, OS, DBMS, and some questions on C library functions.
overall the Wipro written test is easy if u seriously prepare for that company.
4. The next process is technical interview. for that we should prepare atleast 2-3 subjects. the interviewers will ask in which subject u are comfortable. we have to specify those sunjects in which we are comfortable.
for me the interviewer asked in which subject u are comfortable. I said OS, then he began to ask questions from OS (he asked more then 10 questiom on that). then asked do u know micro processors. I said we hand in 2nd sem now i don't remember. Then he asked tell me in which subject u are comfortable. I said C and DS. then he asked questions on DS like stack, queues, trees with examples.he asked me to write recursive program
and he asked question on that.
finally my technical interview was about 45min.
5. The next process is HR. for me the interviewr was a lady. she was really cool. my HR was about 5 min thats it.
first she asked me how are u feeling ?
i said i feel good and great.
for that she asked if i wont hire u now then what are going to do.
i said iam going for the next company which is coming tomorrow.
then she checked my HR form and then asked u wrote that u are quick in learning new technologies can u please eloborate this.

Wipro 2007 paper in vizag 2007
Ist round: Every section in this will have a cut off. Be careful but don’t worry. Try to be intelligent while answering. Try getting minimum of 10-15 in every section. This range will even be less many times. No negative marking. Just guess others, don’t waste time on those which are really tough for you.
WRITTEN:
· Verbal
Basic verbal abilities are checked here. Synonyms, scrambled words and sentences, derivation of conclusion from a given data. Minimum thinking ability will be enough to get through in this section.
· Analytical
This requires little practice of some puzzles and problems. R.S.Agrawal will do. If you don’t have enough time try at least practicing the examples before every section of this book.
Sums on averages, time and distance, work ratios, partnerships etc.
· Technical
This section include C,C++ Questions. Basics like loop structures, pointers, inheritance, access specifiers, etc.
If you qualify in this round , next round will be the technical round.
TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:
This requires preparation. Concepts of OS (demand paging, paging, swapping, virtual memory, segmentation, deadlocks, scheduling), DBMS (Transaction management, Normal forms, Boyce codd rules, RDBMS rules, Deadlocks), C, C++, Data structures, Microprocessors-8085, 8086. Just review all the concepts.
This round lapsed about 30-40 minutes for me.
The only best way to get through this round is to answer confidently whatever you know. But try to attempt most of the questions. Not answering some questions will be excused.
Be bold and cool. Wipro people are very good at making you feel comfortable.
After you get through this section next round is HR round.
HR:
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. Family background.
3. Hobbies
4. Strengths and areas of improvement (weakness)
5. About your project
Anything can be asked. Feel free. They are not going to kill you. Just speak as if you are speaking with to ur friend in a little formal way.
Be prepared for answering above set of questions in advance and try practicing them.
MY EXPERIENCE:
Nearly 200 appeared for the written test. Out of which 144 got selected in this round.
Form this 144, 63 got selected in technical interview. After the HR round, the final list consisted of 53 students. Fortunately I am in WIPRO now. In my tech round extended for about 40 minutes. This actually depends. They keep on questioning until you get blocked. The more you are asked the more you have the chance of getting through. Answer with a smile. Don’t worry i didn’t make it through for TCS becoz of my worry.
